Rabbi Hartman, President Emeritus of Shalom Hartman Institute, received the award for "his publications and practical work in the field which unites Jews from all religious streams." Also receiving the prize at the institute's 15th annual award ceremony was Prof. Naama Tzabar Ben-Yehoshua of Tel Aviv University for her contributions to religious pluralism through her work at Tel Aviv University, Beth Hatefutsot and Ahvah College. The 2012 Schechter graduating class joined more than 1,100 Schechter graduates engaged in Jewish education in Israel.
