Many are Disloyal
Many Israeli Arabs are a disloyal "fifth column." The situation is very dangerous. The Jews who lived in the Arab countries were mostly loyal citizens, but because of persecution and theft of property and businesses had to leave,

Plenty of room in Jordan.
There is no place for them here in Israel. They are a hostile, enemy population whose only aim is our elimination. No amount of liberal rhetoric & slogans can change that reality. This is not a racist comment - if they were nice peaceful Buddhists, they would be welcome, but they`re not. The best answer for our security is some form of transfer out of the country. Coexistence has been a total failure.

There are major differences between Arab sub-group and other sub-groups. Arab sub-groups do not recognize Israel as Jewish state. Arab sub-group is a subversive fifth-column; a Trojan Horse and an enemy within. Other sub-groups are not!

"Make Room For Israeli Arabs"
The problems of the U.S. eventually make their way to Israel. In the 1960s, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said that no country can exist when a substantial minority do not feel a part of it. Of your American readers who say Arabs have to go because Israel is a Jew-ish state: how would they react if American Jews had to leave the U.S. because it is a "Christian" country for "Christians" only? There are things Israel can do without compromis-ing its security: the first being that Arab communities get their percentage share of the state budget for social services. If there isn`t enough money, there is a solution: stop subsidiz-ing the colonization of the West Bank.

Israeli Arabs
Let us help them -- to pack and be with their own kind. They are not Jews, they are not at home here. They never were. It is sad that they were always played as pawns by other countries, but I have my own "tribe" to worry about first. Send them packing.

Future Status of Arabs in Israel
Arabs are not satisfied with `good` government. They want their own regime, no matter how bad or cruel. Root is in pan-arab nationalism. There will be an immigration of Arabs from Israel. Compact peaceful arab minority is welcome. But not a 5th Column plotting a bloody revolt.

It is naive selfdeceiving to argue for Israeli Arabs` right of self expression when the Arabs of Israel have expressed their wishes repeatedly by electing representatives that are hostile to the Jewish state and who ally themselves with our worst enemies. This is a bogus issue for the vast majority of Israelis. The real discussion should be about ways to rid us from this fifth column in our midst. But will the Hartman Center ever have the intlelectual honestly and bring it up for discussion?

"Israeli Arabs"
Prof Sagi is too close to the problem to see it. Arabs, Israeli or other, do not want to share a voice in a Jewish State. At best, they want a binational State with a Jewish minority. Israel needs to listen to Lieberman--i.e., as much as possible without relocating people, to separate the populations by moving the boundaries so as to place as many Arabs as possible within the PA. Just as Farrakhan`s Black Muslims will never be part of the US, the Arabs will never be part of a Jewish or Hebrew oriented Israel--even the name upsets them.

Hypocrisy
I would like to see the day an Arab intellectual stands up and demands that an Arab or Muslim country make room for its Jews or minorities. Oh, that will never happen, because the minorities have been completely cleansed from the Arab-Muslim world. Why must it always be Jews who stand up and fight for Arab rights in Israel, the one Jewish state, but those same Jews never fought for Jewish rights to `cultural space` anywhere else where Jews are or were a minority.

Make room for Israeli Arabs
I would like to understand from you how you can reconcile the idea of Israel being shaped by its different subgroups with its keeping a Jewish character, complete with a Jewish ethos, language and national symbols. How do you believe the democratic character of the State of Israel, as envisaged by its Declaration of Independence, could be the basis for the maintenance of the Jewish character of the State, when another people – with another language and other national symbols – also yearns for its own national ethos to prevail? Please take a look at the demographics in Lebanon: its National Pact was achieved based on a sensus of 1932 that show tha the Shiites represented 16% of the population as opposed to 57% today. What will happen years from now when the Arabs become majority? Will they be happy living in a country with a Jewish character? I am for peace, for a Jewish State and for democracy. But I am still to hear or read a sound opinion on how it can be implemented based on reality. I would still like to hear your opinion on this issue.

Arab voice
Of course the country`s Arab population should have a political/cultural presence. But if you want to be heard, you must speak up. For 40 years now we`ve been waiting here in Jerusalem for the city`s Arabs to vote in municipal elections, to run for city council, to take responsibility for their own future. We can`t do this for them...
